Armor Contract Manufacturing Working With Customer To Produce Energy And Protect Environment

Armor Contract Manufacturing has just begun the rebuild of 25 year-old Calciner (rotary air dryer). Armor's machine rebuild experts will strip the unit down, clean it, and rebuild it into a piece of equipment that will be used in the 'clean coal' energy industry. When completed the rebuilt machine will remove the sulfur out of coal so it can be burned in a 'clean coal' facility, eliminating the need for large scrubbers and other pollution control equipment to clean the air after coal has been burned. Armor Contract Manufacturing was chosen to complete this project due to their central Cincinnati Ohio location as well as Armor's experience, modern capabilites, and expansive indoor space large enough to handle the size of the equipment. This large working prototype measures over 140' long when fully assembled.

Armor was first contacted on this project back in November of 2007 and immediately began implementing the plans necessary to begin the restoration on it's scheduled arrival in late June 2008. Armor Contract has expedited the project, expecting the entire re-design and re-build project to be completed before the year end. After completion, Armor will ship the Calciner to a new building site near downtown Cincinnati on the river where it will be a working laboratory to refine the clean-coal process and demonstrate its capabilities for potential clients.

Armor Contract Manufacturing is one of six divisions of The Armor Group operating out of 3 facilities encompassing more than 500,000 square-feet of production capacity. Armor is specialized in the fabrication of dampers, louvers, piping, roll grinding, equipment repair for the paper and steel industries, and burnouts along with the service of blanchard grinding. Armor Contract Manufacturing welcomes small quantities and prototype projects as well as high quantity production runs and long-term contracts. From design to delivery, Armor Contract Manufacturing provides high quality manufacturing with a dedication to improvement supported by our ISO 9001 certified processes, all the while maintaining competitive pricing.
