Sanlo Manufacturing, Inc. To Remain In Michigan City
Saves 70 Jobs, Training and Infrastructure Grants

Michigan City, IN -- Sanlo Manufacturing, Inc. plans to remain in Michigan City. Sanlo’s local plant and corporate management collaborated with Michigan City, the Northwest Indiana Workforce Board and the Center of Workforce Innovations to assist in keeping the operations and its 70 jobs in the community and state.

“We are pleased with the support and assistance provided by Michigan City and the Center of Workforce Innovations in securing the training and infrastructure grants for the local Sanlo operation. The funds will allow us to improve the facility and provide additional training for the workforce now that Sanlo will be staying in Michigan City. We look forward to a long and prosperous relationship with the community and our employees,” said Ranga Ranganathan, Business Unite Leader for Elliott Manufacturing, Nielson, and Sanlo.

The Northwest Indiana Workforce Board and the Center for Workforce Innovations (CWI) are collaborating with Sanlo to secure training funds from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. The funds will be used to prepare some workers to operate different equipment and improve other workers’ skills.

Sanlo Manufacturing, Inc:

  • Design and Manufactures Custom Mechanical Cable Assemblies Either Uncoated or with Thermoplastic Coatings
  • Bulk Bare and Coated Cable
  • Huge Raw Material Inventory Promotes Stable Pricing, Short Lead Times and On-Time Delivery for Projects Ranging from Limited Production to High Volume
  • Custom Design and Engineering Services, Rapid Prototyping and Product Launch

Sanlo announced in April 2009 that it would consolidate operations and move the Michigan City production out of Indiana. Since that time Actuant Corporation, Sanlo’s parent, has been evaluating global and local production models for the Michigan City operations. The efforts of Sanlo management, CWI and the MCEDC developed a feasible business plan for the Michigan City plant.
