With the current economic climate threatening survival for many manufacturers, it is vital to focus on creating and sustaining success in a competitive marketplace. Gaining the inspiration, knowledge and tools to ensure a journey to greatness is simple and inevitable at the 2009 International Lean Conference hosted by the Association for Manufacturing Excellence (AME).

Jerry Bussell, vice president of global operations for Medtronic Surgical Technologies, will present Lean Leadership: What Would Abraham Lincoln Do? Using Lincoln as a leadership role model during his own Lean transition, Bussell clearly demonstrates a passion for remaining involved in every organizational level.
Speaking on Pushing Technology to the Limits will be Kiyoshi "Nate' Furuta, chairman and CEO of Toyota Boshoku America, Inc. Attendees will learn how a proven and admired Lean company transitioned effectively worldwide and continues its journey to greatness.
How We Lead Matters is a presentation by Marilyn Carlson Nelson, chairman and former CEO of Carlson, a marketing and hospitality services company, and one of the largest privately-held companies in the world.
Presenting Lean Means You Spend Less Time at the Dentist will be Sami Bahri, dentist at the Bahri Dental Group. At Bahri's office, patients benefit from his Lean practices as they are moved quickly, smoothly and thoroughly through dental appointments.
Donald R. McNeeley, president and COO of Chicago Tube and Iron Company, will present Learn to Climb Higher and Run Faster. As his company recently concluded its 95th year of consecutive profitability, learn how McNeeley has made his company one of the steel industry's world leaders.
Leadership in an Upside Down World will be presented by Keith Williams, president and CEO of Underwriters Laboratories. As head of a global expansion effort, Williams will demonstrate how leadership led to worldwide recognition.
Presenting People-Centric Leadership: Building a Future for American Manufacturing will be Bob Chapman, chairman and CEO of Barry-Wehmiller Companies. Chapman's vision of creating and sustaining an inclusive environment will be the focus of his presentation.
