Green Manufacturer Considering a $150 Million Industrial Park in Clay County, Kentucky

The Florida-based company says its 'GreenPark' will create 1,400 jobs here by turning trash into sellable products

(Manchester, Kentucky) – An eco-friendly company that makes raw material and products out of trash says it is looking to build a $150 million 'GreenPark' here and hire more than 1,400 workers.

The state of Kentucky recently gave preliminary approval of $42 million in tax incentives to Waste Not Technologies for the project, which would include about 800,000 square feet of buildings on a 230-acre site.

A spokesperson from Florida-based Global Green Holdings – the parent company of Waste Not Technologies - said now that the company has identified a site and secured an incentives package, all that remains to go forward is to negotiate acceptable municipal solid waste (MSW) contracts. Company officials expect to secure those contracts in the very near future.

They declined to disclose the location of the proposed site.

Waste Not Technologies, also known as WNT, touts a process that reclaims 95% of the MSW stream and remanufactures the material into products, which it resells on a regional basis. The company says its process protects regional water resources while greatly reducing greenhouse gases and other airborne pollutants associated with traditional landfills.

WNT's separation facility will have the capacity to process 2,500 tons of MSW per day once it reaches a full 3-shift operation. The project is slated to be operational in about 24 months and then should ramp up to full production about 12 months later.

“We believe the current economic conditions and the prevailing problems associated with landfills combine to provide us an opportunity to capitalize and create green manufacturing jobs while producing value added products that provide a fair return to our stakeholders,” said Tommy Harrison, director of community affairs for Global Green Holdings.

The company has trademarked the 'GreenPark' name for its industrial parks, which it plans to locate across the U.S.
