Northville, Michigan-based mechanical flap wheel maker Belanger Abrasives has been acquired by Schaffner Manufacturing of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Belanger will continue to manufacture its products in Northville, according to a news release.

Other terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Since 1969, Belanger has made heavy-duty large diameter mechanical flap wheels and other abrasive products for the metal finishing industry. Schaffner's industrial metal finishing products include buffing wheels and compounds as well as flap wheels.

Combined, the two companies claim to hold more than half the industrial flap wheel market.
