Ceilings Systems Manufacturer CertainTeed to Consolidate Mississippi Operation to Michigan

State officials say the company plans to invest more than $7 million in the move

CertainTeed Ceilings Corporation, a manufacturer and global distributor of acoustical ceiling systems, plans to invest $7.6 million to consolidate operations from Mississippi to its facility in L'Anse, Michigan.

The state recently approved a tax credit valued at $3.1 million over 12 years to encourage the company to invest in Michigan. Officials expect the deal – supported by the Michigan Economic Development Corp. - to help retain 109 jobs.

Headquartered in Valley Forge, Pa., CertainTeed and its affiliates, including CertainTeed Gypsum, have more than 6,000 employees and more than 65 manufacturing facilities throughout the United States and Canada. The group had total sales of more than $3 billion in 2008.
