Injection Molder Jones Plastic & Engineering to Eliminate Third Shift at Jeffersontown, Kentucky Plant

(Jeffersontown, Kentucky) – Custom injection molder Jones Plastic & Engineering will eliminate its third shift here at the end of March. The move is a result of dwindling sales to the point where the company has become a captive molder that serves one primary customer, Jones officials said in a notice to the state of Kentucky.

Eliminating the third shift will result in 11 layoffs. As of March 30, the total number of employees remaining from the company's Jeffersontown molding division will be 44, according to a spokesperson. Jones has reduced its workforce about 45 percent since November.

The corporate office will remain headquartered in Jeffersontown.

According to its website, the company also has plants in Williamsburg, Kentucky; Camden, Tennessee; two plants in Mexico; and owns Rev-A-Shelf, a manufacturer of custom storage organizing products. The majority of its work is for the appliance industry.
