Evansville, Indiana-based Berry Plastics Corporation says it will undertake an $80 million expansion of its thermoforming operations and create more than 150 jobs within three years. Berry's expansion is being driven by increased demand for plastic thermoformed products, according to a press release.
The company plans to have the extra manufacturing capacity online by the first quarter of 2010 and is evaluating multiple sites across the U.S. for the expansion. The $80 million will go for new space and equipment.
Beyond the initial project phase, Berry officials say plans include more investment and employment at the selected site as additional capacity is required by the market.
Berry Plastics manufactures and markets plastic packaging products including open top and closed top packaging, polyethylene-based plastic films, industrial tapes, medical specialties, packaging, heat-shrinkable coatings and specialty laminates. The company's 13,000 plus customers range from large multinational corporations to small local businesses.
Berry has 66 manufacturing facilities worldwide and nearly 14,000 employees. For more information about the company visit http://www.berryplastics.com
