Cintas Corporation will close two of its manufacturing Kentucky plants and put hundreds out of work. In a notice to the state, Cintas said it will close facilities in Owingsville and Hazard.
The Owingsville location makes work pants and employs 148. The Hazard site makes work shirts and employs 150. Both plants will close January 31, 2009 and the manufacturing work will be spread across Cintas’ remaining facilities, according to a news release from the company.
“Unfortunately, the economic climate and reduction in demand for products manufactured at these plants left us with limited options,” said Scott Farmer, CEO of Cintas Corporation in the release. “Our top priority is to assist our employee–partners and their families throughout this transition.”
Cincinnati, Ohio-based Cintas designs, manufactures and implements corporate identity uniform programs and provides entrance mats, restroom cleaning and supplies, promotional products, first aid and safety products, fire protection services and document management services for approximately 800,000 businesses.
Cintas operates more than 400 facilities in the U.S. and Canada, including 11 manufacturing plants and eight distribution centers that employ more than 34,000 people. For more information about the company visit http://www.cintas.com.
