Ohio-based Timken Receives $16 Million Indian Railways Order

(Canton, Ohio) - The Timken Company (NYSE: TKR) says it received a $16 million order to supply bearings for use on Indian Railways passenger and freight trains. Timken has supplied India's rail system for 20 years.

One of the largest and busiest rail networks in the world, Indian Railways transports 18 million passengers and 2 million metric tons of freight each day. The state-owned Indian Railways operates both long-distance and suburban rail systems.

The Timken manufactures friction management and power transmission products and provides related services. The company did $5.2 billion in sales in 2007 and employs about 25,000 in 27 countries.
