(Auburn Hills, Michigan) /PRNewswire/ -- The Brose Group,a manufacturer of mechatronic components and systems for vehicle bodies and interiors, will consolidate several door and latch module production programs in to its newest plant in Warren, Michigan.
Production at outlying plants will be moved closer to Brose's North American engineering headquarters and to that of its customer locations. The consolidation is the result of the difficult market conditions. The location in Chicago will be most affected by the changes. To aid in a seamless transition, there is an intention to offer relocation or severance packages to employees affected by the move.
"The close proximity of development and production to various customer locations balanced with low-cost-country production will allow us to remain competitive," said Jan Kowal, president Brose North America and member of the Brose management board. "This production flexibility should serve our customers well in today's evolving market."
The German-based Brose Group has seen tremendous growth over the last several years while continually investing in the development of new products and manufacturing processes, state-of-the-art information technology and personnel development. The corporate group intends to continue its policy of expanding business over the upcoming years and also recently completed the acquisition of the motor drives unit from automotive supplier Continental AG. It is currently predicted that two-thirds of Brose's worldwide growth will be generated predominantly in North America and Asia.
