(Bristol, Indiana) – Kinro Inc. – which makes aluminum and vinyl windows and doors for recreational vehicles and manufactured homes – will layoff 143 workers here and mothball its plant until business picks back up.
The company announced the layoffs, slated for January, in a notice to the state of Indiana.
Marvin Givens, vice president of operations for Kinro, told Manufacturing & Technology eJournal that several dozen Bristol employees – as well as work being done at the site - will be moved to a plant in Goshen, Indiana.
“We don’t know how long it will be,” Givens said. “The RV and mobile home market that we serve is down, but we’re optimistic that it will come back one day and we’ll have that plant to go back to.”
According to its Web site, in addition to the Bristol plant, Kinro supplies the RV industry from facilities in Elkhart, Indiana; two sites in Goshen, Indiana; and Fontana, California. The company supplies the manufactured housing industry from Goshen as well as several other plants across the country.
Kinro is based in Arlington, Texas.
