25,000 sf facility to be completed by 2Q 2009; 6 jobs added

New Haven, Ind. (August 26, 2008)—HUPP Aerospace/Defense has announced plans to occupy a new facility in New Haven by 2Q 2009. The company is finalizing plans with R&S Property, Inc., to lease a new 25,000 square foot facility at the northeast corner of Summit Street and Linden Road. R&S Property plans to break ground on the project this fall. HUPP’s current 18,000 square foot complex at 1690 Summit Street (west of the new location) is also owned by R&S Property and a new tenant is being sought for that building when it becomes available. HUPP Aerospace/Defense is a premiere provider of tailored kitting and third party logistic services to the defense community and employs 23 full-time workers in New Haven. The company is targeting annual growth of 15% to 20% and plans to increase its full-time workforce by 6 jobs, or 26%, in conjunction with the new building.

“Increased demand for our products and services has grown the business to the point of needing a bigger facility,” said HUPP chairman and CEO Ron Root. “This presents some interesting opportunities for our company. At the same time, we’re in a great location and have a good relationship with the owner of our current facility. We’re excited that our growth can be accommodated here in New Haven and we look forward to relocating to the new facility upon its completion.”

Today’s announcement comes after preliminary work to rezone the site of the proposed project from Multiple Family Residential to Light Industrial. The New Haven City Council is being asked to confirm the earlier work of the New Haven Plan Commission. Members of the City Council will also be asked to phase in property taxes on the new development. That issue will be addressed at future Council meetings.

“This announcement is additional good economic news for our community,” stated New Haven Mayor Terry McDonald. “We are obviously pleased that the City of New Haven represents a cost-effective and efficient place for HUPP Aerospace to conduct its business. We will continue to look for ways to add value to the company’s operation and in return realize the benefit of a stable and growing employer for the foreseeable future.”

Since 1978, HUPP Aerospace/Defense has been providing the U.S. Government, its allies and major prime contractors with products and third party logistic services designed to improve readiness, lower maintenance costs and increase reliability. Over the years, HUPP has evolved its services to stay at the forefront of federal procurement changes and realignment. HUPP has become a premiere provider of tailored kitting and third party logistic services to the defense community. The company’s foundation of absolute integrity, product quality and industry leading service will continue to keep HUPP at the pinnacle of the value pyramid of its customers.
