FRANKFORT, Ky. (August 2008) – Governor Steve Beshear and Economic Development Cabinet Secretary John Hindman announced Fluortubing USA, a manufacturer of Polytetrafluoraethylene (Teflon®) plastic tubing, has committed to move part of its manufacturing operations to Campbellsville-Taylor County from its subsidiary company, Fluortubing B.V. of Utrecht, The Netherlands.

The $1.1 million investment will allow the company to move from distributing into manufacturing, which will expand the company’s local workforce by approximately 25 employees. A 48,000 square-foot facility has been purchased to house the first phase of the expansion.

“Fluortubing USA’s decision to bring this investment back to the commonwealth is a testament to the many advantages Kentucky offers companies competing in the global marketplace,” said Gov. Beshear. “The Taylor County workforce and strong community leadership no doubt played a vital role in making this project possible. Kentucky is proud to have Fluortubing USA choose Taylor County for its expansion and wish them continued prosperity.”

The key market opportunities for Flurotubing USA are biopharmaceuticals, chemical synthesized pharmaceuticals, chemical processing, automotive, aerospace and many others in the North American and Asian markets. The company has received a license agreement from EI DuPont Company of Wilmington, Del., to purchase and manufacture under the Teflon® brand name.

“The opportunity to come home to Kentucky and bring good-paying, highly-technical jobs to the state has been a personal dream of mine for many years. The Fluortubing family is very happy to be located in the most beautiful state in the USA,” said Fluortubing USA President Jack Wisdom. “Thanks to the state and local officials for helping make this transition effortless. An extra thanks to Taylor County Judge Executive Eddie Rogers who started working to get us to Campbellsville from the inception. Without his initial contact, this business would have been located in Asheville, North Carolina and not in Campbellsville, Kentucky.”

The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority preliminarily approved the company for tax benefits up to $325,000 under the Kentucky Rural Economic Development Act, an incentive program designed to increase manufacturing employment and investment in the state.

“The Cabinet is pleased to be a part of this project, creating new employment opportunities for Taylor County and providing over a million dollar investment in the commonwealth,” said Secretary Hindman. “Today’s announcement is a good example of how Governor Beshear and the Cabinet’s focus on the expansion of Kentucky business is succeeding.”

“We are very excited to have Fluortubing USA’s foreign direct investment in our community,” said Ron McMahan, executive director of Team Taylor County. “Their expansion will further diversify our local economy and enhance our excellent quality of life.”
